Best movie of the year. Sure that may be a bold statement, especally at this point in the year, but hell why not? Its true. Yes thats right, The Hurt Locker is and will be the best movie of 2009.

Now you might be thinking, "Damn, the best movie of the year? Well than there must be a ton of big name stars in it.. right?" The answer is NO. And that, I think, is something that makes it all the more better. An almost rookie cast, lead by rookie actor Jeremy Renner, is absolutely perfect. Spot on are there roles about a Military Bomb Squad fighting over seas.

The writing is pitch perfect. Well I guess it helps when you're part of an Amaerican Bomb Squad also. Yes writer Mark Boal was part of an American Bomb Squad, so you know the story is going to be pretty spot on.

But all in all the biggest surprise of this near perfect movie is the director. Kathryn Bigelow is HER name and by god does she do a great job. Most people would underestimate her because shes a woman. What does a woman know about an action movie? Well apparently they know allot.

This movie is so well written, acted, directed and visualized that I am putting it up there with the likes of other War classics, like Apocalypse Now and Saving Private Ryan.

Overall, The Hurt Locker is the perfect movie, come Oscar time. This movie is "itself" and is nothing else. Hell in times like these that's something we all need. A
